All Civilian Police Aides and Non-Sworn Agents shall be appointed by the Mayor and Common Council upon the advice of the Chief of Police to a term not to exceed one (1) year. (2) Civilian Police Aides and Non-Sworn Agents are considered at-will part-time employees and can be terminated without cause. C. Duties. Duties of the Civilian Police Aides and Non-Sworn Agents shall be determined by the Chief of Police or his/her designee. D. Chain of Command. Civilian Police Aides and Non-Sworn Agents shall be assigned to a Division, Bureau or Unit of the Police Department at the discretion of the Chief of Police. Upon being assigned the Police Aide or Agent will follow the Chain of Command as directed in the Organizational System of the Department. E. Adoption of Policy. All policies, including the Civilian Police Aides and Non-Sworn Agents Policy is hereby codified and approved by Ordinance of the City of Gloucester City. SECTION 2 : All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances inconsistent with this Ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency. SECTION 3: If the provisions of any section, subsection, paragraph, subdivision, or clause of this Ordinance shall be judged invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, such order of judgment shall not affect or invalidate the remainder of any section, subsection, paragraph, subdivision, or clause of this Ordinance. SECTION 4: This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon final passage and publication in accordance with law.
